A tragic road accident near Muthyalammagudem village in Peddavoora mandal claimed the lives of three individuals and left three others seriously injured during the early hours of the night. The collision occurred on the Nagarjuna Sagar–Hyderabad highway when two passenger vehicles traveling in opposite directions crashed head-on with tremendous force. According to preliminary reports, a Maruti Swift carrying several passengers was proceeding toward Nagarjuna Sagar when it collided with an oncoming car.
The impact was severe enough to cause extensive damage to both vehicles, trapping occupants inside the wreckage. Local residents and emergency responders rushed to the scene immediately after receiving information about the accident. Rescue operations were launched swiftly, and injured passengers were extracted from the damaged vehicles before being shifted to Kamala Nehru Area Hospital in Nagarjuna Sagar.
Among those who lost their lives were Kakarla Thomas (50), his son Prakash Rao (40), both residents of Palnadu district, and site engineer Sai Kumar. Their deaths have left families and local communities in deep mourning. Medical teams continue to monitor the condition of the injured survivors, some of whom reportedly sustained critical injuries.
Police have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the collision. Authorities are examining factors such as speed, road conditions, driver visibility, and possible mechanical failures. The incident has once again highlighted concerns regarding highway safety and the need for greater caution during nighttime travel on busy road corridors.
